The farm consists of two properties, 720 comprising of 287,0253 hectares and 721 comprising of 327,1228 hectares. The Italo Martinengo Trust bought the properties in 1984.
Power is supplied by one of two generators. Water is obtained from a borehole 110m deep and worked by a windmill. The water is clean and clear with a neutral PH 7.1. Vehicles used on the farm are a tractor, excavator and bulldozer. On farm 720 there is a well 20m deep and built out of limestone. It was apparently built in 1904. The bottom has collapsed and our intention is to restore it. There is a small area on farm 721 which has a few milkwood trees growing. We would like to plant a lot more. The rest of the properties consists of the usual fynbos of the area. We have virtually no alien vegetation on the properties. For approximately 10 years we have been cutting down rooikrans. The entire farm is fenced with the normal three-strand wire. Our intention is to preserve the fauna and flora, keeping the land as natural as possible. |
