Waterkop Farm of approx. 310 ha is located 8 km from Stanford, 35 km from Hermanus and 150 km from Cape Town, on the main road, R43, to Gansbaai.

The farm was bought in december 1995 and has since been turned into a luxury 5-star Guesthouse, Bellavista Country Place, with a fully licensed restaurant. The guesthouse was opened in 1999 and the restaurant in 2001 by the Swiss owners, Georges and Sonja Schwegler. Sadly Sonja has passed away in the meantime.

The Guesthouse features two thatch roofed Cottages, a separate complete Guesthouse with three luxurious and elegant Suites with views over Walker Bay and located within mature, park-like gardens. An large overflow-swimming pool cascading into a kids pool, easy walking paths for bird watching and sunbathed terraces are at the guests disposal. The restaurant has 180 degree views over the Atlantic with covered terraces where meals are served, weather permitting. The kitchen is staffed with a professional, well experienced chef and produces meals based on seasonal fresh products, cosmopolitan style.

The farm has gone through two exceptionally strong and devastating bush fires, in 2000 and in 2006. Fortunately the guesthouse and the restaurant with all the infrastructure has not suffered any damages at all. The positive side of those two fires was that the rooikrans, an alien invading plant, has practically disappeared. Now the farm is basically covered by 100% fynbos. There is no agricultural activity on the farm.
